My entire September has been very sparse and dreary. I didn’t have anything personal that I want to share. Nothing significant that I want to remember. Just masterfully learning the art of getting by. I will definitely make up for my absence here, as I always do. I will have a lot of things to share very soon.
P.S. I have been posting a lot of things HERE, so you might want to follow that blog to, for the lack of a better term, get the Full Ryann Experience.

Unholy Night by Seth Grahame-Smith
I just finished reading this a few days ago and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. I’ve always loved biblical fiction ever since Anne Rice did it with her Christ the Lord series. Without giving too much of the story away, this is about how the Three “Wise” Men accidentally bumped in to Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus; and how they eventually helped them escape Herod’s wrath. And of course, with a few other twists and meeting other familiar Bible characters along the way. It’s a very funny, refreshing and surprisingly gory take on the beloved Nativity Story. I was waiting for this story to take a blasphemous turn, but it didn’t. It was more of a fictional way of filling the historical gaps left out from the nativity story while keeping the what was written in the Bible intact. Also, I’m very excited to learn that Warner Brothers has acquired the film rights to this story. The dramatic nativity story with a whole lot of 300 action going on? That I have to see.
I recently went to Manila to attend my cousin’s wedding. It was a very quaint family affair. As always, I was very emotional all through out the event. I love weddings. I really do. I felt so blessed and honored to witness the most important day of my cousin’s life. I’m very happy for the…
I changed my blog layout, again because I accidentally messed up my old theme and strangely enough, the changes I did from before won’t show up on the revert theme page. So I decided to start from scratch and create something new. After another countless days of sifting through fonts, width sizes, ccs codes, the tumblr theme docs, and lots of trial and error, I present to you my new blog layout!
The base theme is Greying and the design is based on the Rank and File premium theme, but with two columns. Since I can’t pay for a premium theme, I coded and edited it myself. It’s 98% text-based, so everything loads up immediately. I also added the font Open Sans Condensed, Book 300 and Bold 700. I absolutely love tinkering with css and html, so I hope I can control myself and stick to this theme for as long as I can.
Russel Villafuerte’s collection is the result of the juxtaposition of soft feminine fabrics with the tough and hard. It was a balancing act that he executed very well. Above are some of my favorite photos I took from the Premiere group show for Philippine Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012.
James Blake - A Case of You (Joni Mitchell Cover)
A Case of You by Joni Mitchell is definitely one of my favorite songs of all time, from her album Blue, which also my favorite album of all time. This amazing song has been done countless times by artists like Tori Amos, Michelle Branch, K.D. Lang, and even by The Decemberists and Prince. So far, my favorite cover of this song was done by Diana Krall from her Live at Paris album. Now that this James Blake cover exists, this is definitely my new favorite out of the bunch. Joni would be so proud of this.
Aside from the usual go-to places in Bacolod City, I was more excited to go to Gallery Orange. It’s located with in the Art District. Too bad there weren’t any official exhibitions in any of their 3 galleries when I went there. But there were still lots…
Me and my friend went to see Marie Digby perform a small gig at a new mall opening event here in Cebu. She’s unbelievably beautiful in real life. And she sounds so amazing live. But what’s so funny about this is whole thing is that she performed in the middle of a Grocery Store while people are shopping around her. It’s very weird, but I really enjoyed her performance. And I agree Marie, It should have been a proper show.
